A bloody thrill

For the last seven months we have waited, asking ourselves how much longer we had to wait.

Reading the news feeds and social media just waiting to see the date for one of ABC’s highest rated show to return. So when the date was finally set for the season opener, we made sure we weren’t working that night, my friends sent their kids to a friends house and we all gathered around the TV.

The Walking Dead season 5 premiered on Sunday, Oct. 12, setting an all-time record for the most viewed premiere episode in television history.

The first five minutes was one of the most horrific scenes a show can produce with our walker survivors heading to a feeding trough to be slaughtered. The ear-piercing sounds of blood spatter was enough to give you nightmares.

The show has been known for pushing the envelope of messy, nasty, blood, guts and gore since it first came on the scene back in 2010 and though the show is fictional, it has become a cult phenomenon.

“I just love it and how everyone is back together again,” says Bachelor of Nursing student Brady Bevers. “I love all the seasons of Walking dead.”

No matter how much blood and guts are shown, the fans continue to love it.

Now that the Walking Dead has been picked up for a sixth season, it’s clear that the show has much more bloody gore left to come.
