Kodiaks clash

The Kodiak new jerseys with the off colour libero.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks volleyball teams have been the recipients of new jerseys this year.

Diverting from the colours that fans are used to seeing, a vibrant sky blue has been used in the new uniforms.

The Kodiaks logo does have blue in it, making the jerseys the perfect match for the volleyball teams.

There is just one minor issue that the women’s team faces.

The libero jersey does not match the team at all.

The main issue is that libero’s must have the opposite colour jerseys to tell them apart on the court, as they’re only allowed to play back row.

Laura Serafini has been playing as a middle for the Kodiaks volleyball team for the past three years.

She loves the new jerseys, but finds the issue with the libero jersey.

“It clashes, it’s like green and the other ones are blue,” said Serafini.

The Kodiaks new jerseys are blue faded to white with black numbers, or white fade to blue with black numbers.

The libero does not have a jersey that contrasts enough to be depicted on the court.

This has made it so that the women’s team has to go back to their old jerseys, which are green and black, or white with black and green.

Sue Davies has been watching the Kodiaks since Serafini started with the Kodiaks three years ago, and believes the blue jerseys are a nice change for the Kodiaks.

“I like the blue jerseys… Although I was used to the traditional green used previously,” said Davies.

Although, she was a little shocked by the change, not realizing that the blue was part of the original Kodiak logo.

“The traditional colour I was used to seeing is green so why mess with the tradition,” said Davies.

The ultimate choice of what colour they wear is up to the captains of the team.

All Kodiak teams get new jerseys on rotation every four years, so only time will tell if they get it sorted out for the libero to have a jersey colour close to those others of the team.
