Skate Canada International in YQL

It’s been 25 years and Lethbridge is ready.
Figure skating fans have descended on southern Alberta as Skate Canada International has returned to the Enmax Centre.
Lethbridge was the host city in 1990 for the same event and Mayor Chris Spearman believes that it’s events like this that help put Lethbridge on the map.

“We are thrilled that Skate Canada has chosen our city as the location for this word-class competition. We look forward to welcoming the competitors, coaches, officials, support staff and spectators.  They will have an excellent experience in Lethbridge,” said Spearman at the announcement of the event back in October of 2014.

With names like Patrick Chan and Kaetlyn Osmond gracing the ice, this event has been greatly anticipated by figure skating enthusiasts.

Ladies 2014 Canadian Championships gold medalist and Sochi 2014 team silver medalist Osmond, left the ice seeking medical attention after an awkward landing during rehearsals today at the Enmax Centre.  Osmond reappeared on the ice a short time later to cheers and applause from spectators.

Osmond  continued the rest of her rehearsals as planned in the afternoon practice session.

The action kicks off tomorrow and continues until Sunday.
