15 left injured following a night of festivities (Simulated Event)

This is a fictitious story based on the work four programs did in Criminal Justice, EMT, Nursing and Digital Communications and Media.

Students responded to the mock disaster as if it was a real event. The following story is how it unfolded.

Just to reiterate, this story is not real.

Lethbridge Mock Police Service (LMPS) are investigating, following an altercation that left 15 wounded.

Police responded to a home near 123 Main St. Saturday morning.

The original 911 call indicated emergency crews were responding to a motor-vehicle collision.

In an attempt to flee the scene, a SUV collided with two pedestrians, one of which was a young child. Both victims sustained injuries and are being treated at the hospital.

The suspect in question fled the scene before police arrived.

Murray Bartley, LMPS Staff Sargent, said when emergency responders and police got to the scene they were shocked by the situation.

“When police arrived they discovered there was another incident in the residence adjacent to the motor vehicle accident. Police attended to that residence and determined there was a gathering the night before, and multiple individuals were injured,” said Bartley.

Police confirmed an unidentified victim was left seriously injured following an altercation with the suspect, identified by multiple party guests as mid-30’s local, Blake Wesson.

The victim was found bleeding from serious stab wounds and was treated by first-responders at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

Multiple others sustained minor knife injuries during the dispute and are being treated in the hospital, along with others who required medical attention for a variety of injuries.

“From the initial interviews we have done with witnesses we believe that illicit drugs were consumed at the gathering,” said Bartley.

Police say the use of drugs such as Fentanyl and Crystal Methamphetamine may have contributed to the severity of the incident.

Jesse Schmidt, 21, was at the residence for what she referred to as a “chill party.”

Schmidt confirms multiple drugs were being consumed at the party, and a physical clash between Wesson and the unidentified victim occurred moments before the stabbing took place.

“Blake got pushed on the ground and then he looked up and said ‘you’re going to regret this.’”

Schmidt wasn’t in the room to witness the stabbing take place but re-entered to what looked like the scene of a horror film.

“Everyone was passed out, people were freaking out and there was blood everywhere,” said Schmidt.

The party-guest believes the altercation was the result of a sour drug deal.

Bartley says the suspect remains at large however there is no evidence to suggest there is any danger to the public.

Kendell Artokivi did not attend the party but was on scene following the incident to attempt to find Wesson, whom she says is a friend of hers.

The bystander confirmed drugs have been a problem for Wesson in the past, and he has a history of disappearing.

“I saw a car that looks like his leaving when I got here. It’s scary because he has disappeared without leaving a paper trail before.”

Artokivi also suggests that if Wesson is responsible for the events that unfolded, he did them unintentionally.

“Drugs were obviously involved, but he just made a mistake.”

There are no updates on the status or identities of the individuals who were taken to the hospital.

At this time no charges have been laid, and Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact investigators.
