A confession on confessions

Lethbridge College has become scene to a very unfriendly site. A place where people can post anything they want anonymously and not have to deal with the consequences. This place is called the Lethbridge College Confessions Page.

Since its generation in 2013, the confessions page has picked up a lot of momentum, grabbing over 5,000 likes, as well as having well over 2,000 confessions posted.

With the gain of momentum and confessions there is a lot of scrutiny about the page. Due to being able to post anonymously, people are ruthless with their posts, and this is where all of the bullying comes from.

With the writers being able to hide behind their screens, there is no barrier to what they will post. Ranging from confessions about liking someone to a confession about calling someone out in the gym.

Some students know this too well.

“This site really is just a bunch of immature kids hiding behind a screen,” says Lethbridge college student Jakson Kehler.

Kehler is one of the many students who had to deal with having a confession posted about him. “People need to step up and stop hiding behind the screen. If you have something to say, say it to their face,” says Kehler.

“The bullying on this site has effected way to many students and it needs to stop,” says Lethbridge College student Tyler Bridge.

The site has changed admins over the years, but the same result keeps occurring. People keep posting confessions and bullying students on the site. The admins have resulted to blurring out last names in the confessions, but the point still gets through.

We need to ask ourselves, is this site worth all of the bullying, and if not, how will we fix it?
