Kodiak Womens Basketball Winning Streak

Success on the basketball court, it’s something the Kodiak Women’s team hasn’t experienced in a long time. The team is a perfect 10 and 0.  Since the season started the girls have entered the court with winning on their minds and when they walk out, that is exactly what happens.

Alumni player and new Kodiak games day coordinator, Lindsey Haslem, says the team has a better mind set then when she played. She sees a lot of the older girls taking the younger ones under their wing

Not only has the team climbed quickly to the top of the south division but they’re also beating the first place team in the north division, Lakeland college. The Kodiak girls are also averaging over 83 points game compared to their opponents average around 42. Coaching staff credit their strive and competitiveness.

“They’ve bought into the system very well. Were a good offensive team and they’ve jelled really well and they put the team before themselves” Says Coach Brad Karren “that is just what’s done it for us. They play hard every night, just every minute they are out there they play hard.”

With only a few rookies straight out of high school, they seem to fit right in with the rest of the team. Coach Karren has also imported two Americans this year.

We like to play tough defense we get out at them,” said #23 Jordyn Kirk,  “We got a lot of team chemistry going on right now and we are just trying to keep it rolling. “

Not only are the Kodiaks leading the ACAC but they’re also one of the top teams in Canada. For the upcoming games and Kodiak events, visit gokodiaks.ca
