Another turn in Buis case

The case of a former Lethbridge College vice-president facing child pornography charges has taken another turn.

On the day when Buis and his lawyer, Balfour Der, were in Lethbridge provincial court to enter a plea on the charges, the special prosecution from Calgary got the court date wrong and failed to show up.

The hearing for the election and plea is set for Jan. 25.

Buis was arrested in July 2010 after a three-month investigation. He is charged with possessing, accessing, and distributing child pornography.

College computers were used to download and obtain sexually explicit videos involving pre-teens, which were also made accessible to others. There were three laptops seized from his home too.

Buis resigned from his position at the college April 9.
