Basketball Kodiaks split games over weekend

The Kodiak women’s basketball team had some triumphs and shortfalls this past weekend.

With two away games against two different teams, the women had some hard work cut out for them. The Kodiaks came home with a win and a loss.

 

On Saturday night, the women took to the court against Kings College. The women showed their abilities by bringing home a win, with a final score of 78-61.

Friday night, the women faced off against the Lakeland Rustlers.

Unable to show the same results, the women lost 72-46 to the Rustlers.

The Rustlers win over the Kodiaks’ resulted in the women’s first loss since their Nov. 19 home game loss against the Grant MacEwan Griffins.

Currently the women are third in the South Division, with Mount Royal and SAIT in first and second place.

Meanwhile, the men’s team brought home their third victory of the season this past weekend.  

On Saturday night the men beat Kings College 79-61. The men fought back after their loss to the Rustlers the night before.

The men had a tough result against the Lakeland Rustlers on Friday night, losing 119-60 in Lakeland.

Currently the men Kodiaks are last place in the South Division.

The Kodiaks’ will bring the ball home on Saturday where they will take on the Medicine Hat Rattlers with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.
