There is a difference between the words borrow and take, such as borrowing your friend’s clothes or taking clothes from the dryers in residence.
Jesselyn Nixon, a college student at LC, lives in 30th Avenue residence, and when she left for 30 minutes while doing her laundry, two items of her clothing were stolen out of the dryer.
The laundry rooms do not have cameras in them so when she went to report her stolen items to the residence office, they simply told her there was nothing they could do unless the situation happens again – and next time when she is doing laundry she should watch her clothes at all times.
Personally I think that if it happens once, it is a problem and something should be done about it.
No one wants to spend 30 minutes watching his or her clothes dry in a dryer.
It may not seem like a problem to the ones who never had it happen to them but to the ones who did have it happen to them, this can be frustrating.
Then there’s the matter of cost.
Students on average wash their clothes at least once every two weeks and depending on how many clothes they have, they would be paying a pretty penny.
Washers cost a student $1.50 and dryers cost 25 cents for five minutes of drying time.
Most students are unemployed when they come to school so putting down a good six dollars every time they do laundry can become pricey.
