Brides flock to annual extravaganza

There went the brides.

On Sunday, Jan. 22, Lethbridge held its annual winter Bridal Extravaganza at the Yates Memorial Theatre.

The show was free for brides, grooms, and their guests to attend, however brides were required to register beforehand either using an online form or by telephone.  The romantic extravaganza showcased displays and information booths from local wedding vendors that ranged from photographers and invitations, to honeymoons and beauty salons.  Food and beverages were also supplied to attendees.

The afternoon included numerous door prizes for the future married couples, as well a prize giveaway of $1,000.

The event also featured two hour-long fashion shows, with a number of local salons participating by providing their newest fashions for the show.

The shows’ models had their hair done by Kenegdo and makeup was done by Merle Norman.
Chris Yauck Photography is the longest running vendor at the Bridal Extravaganza and has been participating in the event for 25 years, since the event was first established. Photographer Meghan Villiger says since the holidays are an axtrmemly popular time of the year for couples to become engaged, this a very busy time of the year for wedding plans and wedding related businesses, such as bridal boutiques and hair and comsetic outlets.

“There are around 250 brides who come to the show,” says Villiger. “So it’s a great way to meet and mingle with people.”

The next Lethbridge Bridal Extravaganza will be held in the fall.
