Buis case adjourned

Friday marked yet another adjournment in the case against Rick Buis who was charged with child pornography early this summer. The case has been adjourned until Nov.18.

The former Lethbridge College vice-president and his Calgary-based lawyer were not present at the provincial courthouse on Nov. 5. The court heard that the special prosecutions for the Crown and Buis’ lawyer are working on a resolution for Nov. 18.

Buis was arrested after a three-month investigation. The charges are for possession, access and distribution of child pornography.

College computers were used to download and obtain sexually explicit videos involving pre-teens, which were also made accessible to others. There were three laptops seized from his home.

Buis resigned from his position at the college April 9 last spring.
