Bullying

Today the world lost a girl who suffered pain, abuse, and hate at the hands of a few disgusting people.  Amanda Todd took her own life, because she was bullied, beaten and abused by people, who know no limits in their torture of individuals.

This needs to stop.

We live in a world that has instant access to people’s lives.  Social media gives us the power to look into people’s lives, write, tweet, and comment or ‘like’ however we choose.

This power is amazing: it can be used for good, to get the word out about events or causes, to commend people about good deeds or accomplishments.

However, sadly, it is also used for evil. Hate speech and cyber bullying, criticism and abuse are driving these poor souls into actions that are not commendable, but understandable.

Amanda was beaten and bullied to the point that she felt she needed to take her life.

A mistake that she made had a deadly consequence. She flashed a male on the Internet; he then took screen-shots of the poor girl.

Later on he found out who she was, tracked her down, and threatened her, to “put on a show for him,” or he would blackmail her.

Scared and alone she fled, changing schools over three times. The man would not leave her alone. He continued to threaten her, and eventually made a Facebook page with her breasts as the profile picture.

Moving schools again she was led on by another boy, who she liked and slept with. He had a girlfriend and when she found out, she came to Amanda’s school with 15 others including, her less than likeable boyfriend, and beat the crap out of her.

After this event Amanda tried to commit suicide by drinking bleach. People would tag her on Facebook, with photos of bleach, and ditches, where her father found her after the incident.

The world is a colder place now with the loss of this beautiful girl.

Rest in peace Amanda Todd. The world lost a wonderful person; heaven gained another soul lost on earth.
