Civic Elections: Advance Polling

The Lethbridge civic elections are quickly approaching and the advance polls have been turning out a large number of participants.

Any citizen who is unable to vote on Election Day on Oct. 18. is eligible to vote at the advance polls.

So far 1,363 residents have voted.

These numbers verify that advance voting has risen 92 per cent since the last election in 2007, according to the City of Lethbridge.

 The advance polls have been opened on Oct. 2, 8, and 9 and will continue once more this week.

In order to vote in general you must be at least 18 years old and must be a Canadian citizen living in Alberta for the last six months preceding the day of the election.

There are six candidates running for mayor and 30 running for aldermen.  Also, there are several candidates for the public school trustee in school district 51 and the Holy Spirit Catholic Separate Regional Division.

The last day to vote in the advance polls is Oct. 14 from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. at City Hall.
