College program sniffing out possible doggy volunteers

For most students, pressure hits hard during final exams. A great way to help with the stress is to cuddle up with man’s best friend.

Doggy De-stress is a program that has been at the college for a few years now, helping students de-stress and relax before they take their final exams.

We have 20 available two-hour spots and I have had 10 people volunteer their dogs”, says Michael Bartz, Student Experience assistant.

The Student Experience Office is looking for staff members who are willing to share their furry friends with friendly dispositions and up-to-date vaccinations to participate in Doggy De-stress Week, which runs Dec. 8 – 11 from 8:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. in Andrews 1515.

“We are looking for two-footed and four-footed volunteers”, Bartz added. “I’d like to have the spots filled by mid-November at the latest.”

If you know just the right pooch, please email Student Experience at studentexperience@lethbridgecollege.ca. Be sure to include the dog’s age, breed, size (small, medium or large) and availability.

You can also e-mail the student experience office for more information or to find out other ways you can participate.
