College staff aim to stay healthy

Staying well and eating healthy is a goal for anyone, but here at Lethbridge College it is becoming a reality for staff and faculty. Wellness Wednesdays is an initiative for staff to become accustomed with choices surrounding wellness.

March 19 had a theme of food and with the help of culinary services and Chef Doug Overes. Overes discussed a variety of foods and gave tips about what staff can do to keep well and make better food choices at the lunch and learn.

Linda Davidson, occupational health and safety coordinator at the college, also helps chair Wellness Wednesday events. Davidson says it has received a great response and is something they will continue in the future.

“We don’t necessarily focus on physical aspects but more trying to get balance for people. So expose them to different experiences and things that they might not normally have access to so we try and do that through the lunch and learns,” says Davidson.

While Wellness Wednesday is open to only staff and faculty, it is important for everyone. Next time you feel stressed or need a break, remember what a little wellness can do for you.
