College students offer cheap alternative for massage

Instructors of the massage therapy have organized a clinic that runs at 5 p.m. every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Students from Lethbridge College or any residents from Lethbridge can book appointment for $12. The massages are performed by students currently enrolled in the program.

“The purpose of this clinic is to provide our students with a real-world view of what practicing massage therapy looks like,” said Rosemary Shannon, a massage therapy instructor.

Second year student Pindy Sidhu says these clinics help build the confidence you need when working in a clinic

“It is a more hands on experience, and I was working in the summer in a clinic and I was meeting different people get more confidence and I was not the person I was two years ago,” said Pindy Sidhu.

Instructors from the massage therapy program want these clinics to create more awareness to the students here at Lethbridge College.  It helps massage students build a bigger clientele when entering the real world.

“It would be nice if students at Lethbridge College came to the clinics during their tenure and got a massage. That’s one way we can increase the overall number of clients out in the real world for our students,” said Shannon.
