COLUMN: Top 10 things to try…even if you feel like a fool doing them

Usually when we are told we can’t do something it gives us all the more motivation to try to prove that person wrong. Here are the Top 10 things you will most likely attempt to do after reading this.

 10. Rolling your tongue. A majority of people can do this, are you someone who can or cannot?

9. Write the number six while moving your legs in a clockwise motion. I tried this one the first time I heard about it. It’s not impossible but is harder than it looks.

 8. Licking your elbow. This one is classic. Unless you have a tongue like Gene Simmons or a contortionist’s shoulder blade, it really is virtually impossible.

7. Raising one eyebrow.  I know a ton of people who can do this regularly like it’s no problem. I unfortunately am one of those people who cannot and end up looking like a dimwit sitting there in front of the mirror just moving my eyebrows up and down in unison.

6. Twitching your nose. Like in the old television show Bewitched, Samantha Stephens is famous for her cute little nose wiggle. Try it out, it’s not as easy as it looks!

5. Writing with your non-dominant hand. Try writing your name with one hand, then the other. See what it looks like. Maybe you’re unknowingly ambidextrous.

4. Wrap your arm around your head and try to put a finger in your mouth. Sure you look comical trying to do it but it’s always fun to try (especially after your friends have had a few drinks).

3. Wiggling your ears. I can’t wiggle my ears; I can’t even feel them half the time.

2. Paralyzed finger trick. Bend your middle finger down and lay it on a flat surface along with your other fingers. Now lift your thumb, then your pinkie and then index finger. What about your ring finger?

1. Tickle yourself. If you grab your sides to try to tickle yourself, the brain is aware of this contact from your hands and prepares itself, so it doesn’t come off as a tickling sensation.

Hopefully you looked around before attempting some of these or you may have been getting some pretty weird looks from those passing by. In next week’s column I’ll tell you the Top 10 love songs for this Valentine’s Day.
