Common chord casting call

The casting call for Common Chord has been completed.

Common Chord is about a former foster child, Kyle, who has to become the father he’s never been to his daughter once her mother dies and is also a talented guitarist. Kyle and Teigan’s grandfather don’t get along at all and they fight throughout the movie about whether Kyle should be in her life at all.

Kyle and the grandfather fight for Teigan’s custody once a social worker threatens to take her from both of them. They later realize what they have in common. The notes they each play.

The movie will be directed and produced by Deric Olsen, a University of Lethbridge professor and filmmaker. George Gallant, a fellow Communication Arts instructor at Lethbridge College and documentary filmmaker will co-produce the movie. Gallant will also be producing and directing behind-the-scenes documentary.

Canadian recording artist Joshua Fritz will provide the classical guitar music for the film.

Casting Calls took place at the Movie Mill on Friday and Saturday and according to Linda Besseling, the Assistant Producer of the movie they went very well.

Over 60 people auditioned. Many of those auditions were from local people, but some travelled as far away as Calgary and Cranbrook, B.C.

No decisions have been made yet on the cast. Director Olsen will be soon reviewing footage from the auditions held last weekend.

The staff will issue a press release once the casting decisions have been made.

Shooting is set to begin May 28 and end around June 28.
