Construction time hits nail on the head

Lethbridge College will soon be home to a new building that will allow the college to hold more students than ever before.

A total of 880 more students will be able to fit into the college as the construction of the new Trades and Technology building is in progress.

This $70 million project is on time and will be finished around Canada’s 150th birthday and the colleges’ 60th anniversary during the fall of 2017.

“When I talked to Michel (PR and Communications rep for the project) he had told me that the project was well on time and the first phase of the project should be done around August 2015,” said Virginia Nelson, associate of Michel Bechard.

The first phase of the project is construction of the new parking lot, followed by the second phase, which is demolition of the old trade wing.

Designs of the roof of the new wing are going to resemble the rolling coulees.

Construction of the entire new wing is estimated to be finished in the fall of 2017.
