Cross-country team on the right track

Last weekend, Peter Kalya of Lethbridge College won his third consecutive cross-country event this season.

 

Kayla finished first at SAIT’s ACAC Grand Prix event at Canmore Park in Calgary, held on Saturday.

 

His time of 27:09 was his fastest of the cross-country 2011 campaign.

 

Overall, the men’s Kodiaks beat Grant MacEwan by just one point. 

For the women’s runs, Gladys Kochei finished in 11th with a time of 21:23. Kochei was sick all week and has only been running for three weeks.

 

Running her best time, Meghan Johnston finished 23rd with a 23:05 time. Jennaye Norris finished 39th with a time of 24:50 and Amy Fleming finished 30th with a time of 23:46.

 

With two runners from their team missing, the women’s team finished fifth overall.

 

On Sept. 24, the annual Lethbridge College Run for the Pumpkin took place at Nicholas Sheran Park on the west side of the city. People from all over took part in the Pumpkin Run.

 

For the five-kilometre women’s ACAC run, Jodi Sanguin from Red Deer College won with a time of 19:52. Alexandra Gordichuk from Grant MacEwan University came in second with a time of 20:35, with Gylnis Milne of Grant MacEwan University finishing in third with a time of 21:57.

 

For the men’s eight-kilometre ACAC run, Peter Kalya of Lethbridge College Kodiaks won by 44 seconds ahead of Kirk Sundt of Grant MacEwan University.

 

Will Clack finished first in the non ACAC five-kilometre run as well as for the high school category. Warren Molnar finished second in the non-ACAC five-kilometre run category as well as the high school category.
