Editorial Policy

LethbridgeCampusMedia.ca, the Endeavour newspaper, eNews video broadcast and The Kodiak radio are produced as part of the Digital Communications and Media academic program at Lethbridge Polytechnic. The editorial content of all media properties listed above are at the sole discretion of the student staff, with guidance from their academics advisors. Stories, photos, video, audio, commentary and advertisements are produced as part of the academic program of the Digital Communications and Media program and are not representative of the opinions of the Board of Governors of Lethbridge Polytechnic, its directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, staff or advisors.

LethbridgeCampusMedia.ca, the Endeavour newspaper, eNews video broadcast and The Kodiak radio strive to ensure objectivity, balance and fairness in the reporting of news and affairs concerning the Lethbridge community. Thus, it does not permit itself to be used as a propaganda vehicle for any individual, group or entity, nor does it single out any individual, group or entity for attack or criticism and is free of personal bias.

LethbridgeCampusMedia.ca, the Endeavour newspaper, eNews video broadcast and The Kodiak radio shall not publish or broadcast material considered to be libelous, racist, sexist, or otherwise contrary to law or Lethbridge Campus Media’s own policies regarding community standards.

The Endeavour and LethbridgeCampusMedia.ca welcome letters to the editor and will be included at the discretion of the editor. Editorials, columns, blogs and letters to the editor are the opinion of the writer only.

Comment Policy

We encourage all readers to share their comments on our stories, photos, video, audio, blogs, columns and opinion pieces. Due to the nature of the academic program, comments will be moderated and will not be published if they contain personal attacks, threats of violence, spam or abuse.

Advertising Policy

All advertisements, whether paid or otherwise, are reviewed prior to publishing/broadcast and may be denied by academic advisors for the following reasons: inaccurate, deceptive or misleading claims; personal discrimination; exploiting, condoning or inciting violence; nudity or other explicit imagery. Academic advisors reserve the right to reject, revise, cancel or suspend any advertisement for any reason whatsoever in its sole discretion, without liability or penalty. LethbridgeCampusMedia.ca, the Endeavour newspaper, eNews video broadcast and The Kodiak radio follows the Canadian Code of Advertising standards and shall not publish or broadcast material considered to be libelous, racist, sexist, or otherwise contrary to law or Lethbridge Campus Media’s own policies.

Sponsored Social Media Policy

LethbridgeCampusMedia.ca (LCM) is an education-based media group produced by second-year students in the Digital Communications and Media (DCM) program at Lethbridge Polytechnic. LCM curriculum includes sponsored social media posts, which will be created by DCM students and posted through the Lethbridge Campus Media social media accounts.

All social media posts and their accompanying graphics published to the Lethbridge Campus Media social media accounts must exceed all editorial and advertising policies. Therefore, any sponsored social media post may not be used as a propaganda vehicle for any individual, group or entity, nor does it single out any individual, group or entity for attack or criticism and is free of personal bias.

Social media posts and graphics may also be rejected by the publisher if they contain: endorsements for or against community clients and partners; inaccurate, deceptive or misleading claims; personal discrimination; exploiting, condoning or inciting violence; nudity or other explicit imagery. Academic advisors reserve the right to reject, revise, cancel or suspend any advertisement for any reason whatsoever in its sole discretion, without liability or penalty.

Social media posts and graphics will support client promotions or events. Text, image and/or video will be tagged as sponsored content. Supporting graphics must not contain images that are subject to copyright. The client’s social media page may be tagged in each post, but may not be linked to a website. See below for examples of acceptable and unacceptable submissions.
