By all accounts, Monday’s mock disaster simulation at the DA Electric Barn went off without any major complications.
Approximately 75 students took part in the scenario and program administrator Kelly Mantler said she was happy to see so many students get involved in the simulation.
“I’m thrilled that a teaching strategy such as this has been able to come to the students of the Criminal Justice, Communication Arts and EMS education,” said Mantler.
Whether or not this type of event can take place each year remains to be seen, but one college instructor is hopeful it will.
“I think if you were to do a survey of all the participants, everyone would give it a thumbs up,” said Communication Arts instructor D’Arcy Kavanagh.
“I think it was so successful, I’d like to see it done a couple times a year,” he added.
When asked if she thinks this type of event could take place in the future, Mantler said enthusiastically “We’d love to, we’d really love to.”
