Golfers bring success to college

Lethbridge College has some new celebrities in the golf world. Not only do they have a championship under their belt, they are both this months Kodiak featured player.

For Justin Wood and Lisa Reid, being from Saskatchewan and taking business at Lethbridge College aren’t the only things they have in common.

Last week Wood and Reid were honored to be named the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference 2014-2015 Golf Player of the Year.

Reid and Wood also took home the ACAC Championship two weeks ago and as Reid says it was quite the accomplishment.

“It felt absolutely amazing this year, especially my last and second year playing for the Kodiaks,” says Reid.

Lethbridge Colleges Athletic Manager Todd Caughlin says the pair of athletes are excellent Kodiak examples.

“Those two are just perfectly stereotypical of what we want a student athlete to be,” says Caughlin.

With Wood only being two points in front of his teammate John McKiernan at the ACAC championships, Wood says his short game is where he gets those perfect shots.

“I don’t always hit it so well, but I get up and down from some interesting spots,” says Wood.

Reid and Wood, along with the Kodiak Men’s golf team headed to Quebec to play in the 2014 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Gold Championship. Kodiak Lisa Reid placed eighth overall.
