The case involving a murder of a Lethbridge College student from Coalhurst was adjourned until Dec. 10.

Harper Singh Dhillon appeared in Lethbridge provincial court while it was requested an interpreter for Dhillon be present throughout the trial.

Dhillon claimed he couldn’t speak English fluently enough to go without one.

However, according to the police records, the judge said that Dhillon apparently spoke English without a problem during the post-arrest interview.

The judge adjourned the case to Dec. 10, saying that the court had to be satisfied that Dhillon’s need for an interpreter was proven.

Dhillon turned himself into Calgary police after the murder of Jiwanjyat Ghai, a second-year civil engineering student at LC.

Ghai was killed on Nov.18 after a party at the Coalhurst community centre when Dhillon allegedly went after Ghia’s brother.

Dhillon is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault.
