Harry Potter and the Cathouse Replica

Extreme Fanism. That’s the term I just made up to describe fans that are extreme because fanatic still sounds rational.

A woman named Laura Marshall has displayed acts of ‘Extreme fanism’. She commissioned a man owning a woodwork shop to create a nine-foot-high cathouse. Yup, a cathouse.

Now, this isn’t just any house, it’s a replica of The Burrow. For those of you who aren’t up to date with Harry Potter lingo, that’s what the Weasly family calls their home.

This replica will be home to her cats, which they will use to sleep, do their business and rarely play in.

According to an interview done by Fox 26 News, Laura Marshall, avid Harry Potter fan and cat lover, came up with the idea because she wanted her cats to have their very own Burrow.

In the interview Marshall claims she’s not a crazy cat lady explaining, “If you downplay the cat part, and you upplay yard art, it’s what I was going for.”

Crazy cat lady? No way. Crazy fan? Heck, yes.

The cathouse is even made like a legitimate house. It took 300 hours of construction and used a gallon and a half of wood glue.

The real cedar wood and aluminum for the windows will supposedly last anywhere from 30-40 years.

There was a lot of time and money put into the project. It’s amazing the extent people will go to support their love of a book, movie, character or even brand.

I’m also a shameless Harry Potter fan, and while I do like cats, I think I’ll stick with permanent body art before I do something really crazy like build a nine-foot tall replica.
