Haunting event at Spitz Stadium

Spitz Stadium played host to a horrifying attraction until October ended.
The fourth annual Field of Screams took to the diamond on Oct. 16 and boasted thrills, chills and of course screams. Attendee at the event Julie Fedorkie thoroughly enjoyed the scares. She has attended every Field of Screams in its four-year lifespan and had high praise for this year’s haunted attraction.
“This is my favourite so far, I think it does get better every year,” says Fedorkie. She also praised the event for the causes they’re backing.
Kevin Kvame, president and CEO of Under the Lights Sports explained exactly what causes the attraction is putting support behind.
“One of our volunteers that had been involved in baseball for a number of years came up with an idea how to raise some money for our scholarship fund for Prairie Baseball Academy,” explains Kvame. Along with backing the PBA, Kvame explained they have also set up a program with the Interfaith Food bank in partnership with the Movie Mill. Attendees of the event can bring non-perishable donations to the haunted house in exchange for discounts at the Movie Mill and vouchers for $3 off food or merchandise at the event.
Kvame says Field of Screams has grown each year since they started running it. As a community event, Field of Screams has increased in popularity and Kvame thinks experiences like these are integral to Lethbridge and the culture of the city.
“It’s all about community and engaging with the community and people in this community are passionate about Lethbridge and getting out and having a good friendly, fun time with their family and friends. And what better activities can you do than a sporting event or a scary field of screams?”
As the haunted attraction ends on Halloween night, Kvame tells of one more surprise waiting at the end of the Field of Screams.
“We are hoping, if the weather cooperates, to put on a Halloween-style movie at 11 p.m. when Field of Screams shuts down on Halloween night,” says Kvame.
Field of Screams is ended on Oct. 31. For those that missed out this year, Kvame assures the Field of Screams will continue to run as long as they have the passionate personnel to keep it alive.
