Healthy pets at Humane Society

The Lethbridge and District Humane Society is once again open to the public after a ringworm scare that happened a couple weeks ago.

“Everything is back to normal. In total there were 19 cats and one dog infected,” said Barb Grodzicky, manager of the Lethbridge and District Humane Society.
Grodzicky said ringworm is rare for dogs but before they found out the cats had it they had one of their dogs walk through the cat area of the building. That is how it got ringworm.
The humane society made some changes after the ringworm scare such as having a scoop for every cat’s litter box where as before they used the same scoop for every litter box.
The animals affected with ringworm are now back to their full health.
This past Sunday the society held their fourth annual Barebones Run.
The run was held in Softball Valley and this year they had more runners than any other year.
“This year counted 238 runners and 73 dogs for the run. This run usually has a big turnout because it is one of     the few where runners are allowed to bring their dogs with them,” said Grodzicky.
