Hurricanes in the community

Players from the Lethbridge Hurricanes spent some time back in elementary school last week.

Austin Fyten and Brody Sutter were at Westminster Elementary School on Nov. 16 talking to young students about the new Positive Role Model program and the importance of staying active.

The program is hosted by the Hurricanes and their academic advisor Jim Stewart. The program was created to encourage students to be aware of and avoid drug and alcohol abuse while also learning how to make positive life choices.

Fyten and Sutter demonstrated by talking about their own lives and the sacrifices they had to make to be where they are.

“We enjoy playing Xbox but it’s important to keep active,” Fyten shared during the presentation.

They also took the time to answer some questions the students had prepared for them.

The motivational presentation was followed by a few games of floor hockey.
