If I had $6 million. . .

So, what should go after that statement is something along the lines of donating to a charity that is putting an end to world hunger or say, rescuing abandoned puppies but a girl’s gotta dream.
If I had $6 million dollars I would build a roller rink in Lethbridge.

I should mention that I’m a member of the Deathbridge Derby Dames roller derby team. One of which has no permanent practice space in town and is struggling to even find temporary arrangements.

So in light of that, let me explain the rink of my dreams.
By day, it would be a family skating plaza. There would be hot dog birthday parties and kids rolling every which way, having an old-fashioned good time. But by evening, it would become a haven of roller derby madness.
Let me backtrack for a minute and lay down a bit of a visual. The rink would be in a four-storey warehouse style building with high ceilings, lofts and windy iron staircases.
Inside would be a classy lounge area, daytime area (with tables for all the hot dog birthday parties), mini arcade and a foam pit (for no other reason than that they are generally fun to have around.)
In the centre of the rink would be a stage. This would be where either a DJ or band could set up and entertain.
On the top floor would be an apartment with many rooms for all the derby girls to live. Maybe that sounds ridiculous but our team is close. Very close.
By night it would be a practice space/ adults skate club in which we would be able to have our practices viewable to the public as well as have a chance to skate with our patrons and get to know our community better.
Of course, there would also be a full menu service and full bar. That’s how we would pay our bills. The derby girls would run and manage all aspects of the warehouse, delivering food and drinks on skates, managing, cooking, bartending and providing skating lessons.
In the back would be an outdoor track, complete with barbeques to make for the ultimate backyard summer party.
On the roof we would have hot tubs to soak our aching bodies nightly and finally on either side there would be gardens so we can make sure and eat our veggies.
This is my dream…
