Improving Kodiaks suffer weekend set back

With warm weather on their side, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks soccer teams are pushing just as hard to get in the finals.

The women’s team played an aggressive game on Saturday against SAIT, which the Kodiaks won 5-3.
“This was the best game we played all season,” said Sean Carey, head coach of the women’s squad.
“The first half was disappointing, but we talked at half time and the second half of the game was a better battle.”
Sunday did not go over as well leaving them with a 3-0 loss to Mount Royal University.
The next women’s soccer game will be on Oct. 9 against Lakeland College
in Lethbridge.
The men’s team played the best they could on Saturday but ended up losing with a score of 2-1 against SAIT.
“Today we could have easily won. The boys played their hearts out and were fantastic,” said Joe Mauro, head coach of the men’s Kodiaks.
“The team understands that they are getting better. They can compete at this level anytime with any team. They are playing fantastic soccer. They just need to keep their heads up and learn from their little mistakes, but overall we are pleased with their effort.”
They also suffered a 1-0 loss to Mount Royal on Sunday afternoon.
The men will also take on Lakeland College on Oct. 9.
