Kodiak soccer teams carry ambition

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks soccer teams are at it again with strong attitudes on both the men’s and women’s sides.

While the men lost 7-0 to the Mount Royal Cougars on Saturday, coach Joe Mauro said his team will be back at it in practice and his expectations for the team haven’t changed.

The men will be playing their next game on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. in Medicine Hat against Medicine Hat College.

The women’s soccer team is shaping up better than ever this year with a 6-0 win over SAIT this past weekend.

Even though their game against Mount Royal University didn’t go over as well with a 5-1 loss, they still managed to keep their spirit up and have fun, coach Sean Carey told the media.

With former Calgary Blizzard Stephanie Penny joining the team, the spirit seems to be stronger and the girls seem to have a different outlook on winning.

Penny said at a pre-season meeting with Mount Royal, their goal was to win a national championship. At the Kodiaks meeting, the women’s goal is to win a game.

The women’s Kodiak team plays their next game in Medicine Hat against Medicine Hat College on Saturday, Sept. 18 at noon.
