Kodiak women dive into season

The Lethbridge College women’s volleyball team season officially kicks off this weekend.  After taking first place in their pre-season tournament at the end of September, the women’s team is ranked second in the ACAC south heading into the regular season.  The Kodiaks have their sights set high for the regular season.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s Volleyball team is just getting warmed up.  The team is following a strict regimen of two-hour practice sessions, a regular occurrence during most weekdays.

“I think we have a really good team and we should be able to make it to ACAC’s and do really well there,” said team captain Haley Jemsen.

Jensen said this years Kodiaks team is the best she’s ever seen.

With the season opener approaching this Friday, coach Dusty Stauth said that he’s expecting big things from this years Kodiaks women’s volleyball team.

“This is probably one of the best rosters that we’ve seen at the college in a long time and early indications are that they’re going to be a really exciting team to watch and we’re going to win a lot of ball games this year“

Although confident with his team, coach Stauth says that the team will face fierce competition this season.

“The whole south division is very tough you got the defending national champions, you got Olds that’s hosting ACAC’s and loaded up you got a veteran group out of Briar Crest, Medicine Hat returns their whole team. SAIT returns their whole starting lineup and Ambrose the new guys coming in. There’s enough kids coming out of Calgary that they’re pretty solid too so every nights gonna be a fun night.“

Coach Stauth says his team has what it takes to go the distance this season, and is looking forward to the upcoming home opener.
