Kodiaks start winter semester with mixed results

The Kodiaks women’s volleyball team started off the winter semester with a loss.

Last Thursday, the Kodiaks faced off against the Medicine Hat Rattlers in ACAC action.

The Rattlers would win the match in five sets.

Head Coach, Anna Schwark, says she is happy the women forced the Rattlers to work for the win, but have to be stronger mentally.

“I am happy we gave them more of a run for their money than we did in our starting game against them last semester. I think for us, it was just our consistency and mental game.“

The Rattlers ended up sweeping the Kodiaks with a 3-1 set win on Saturday.

On the other hand, the men would sweep the Rattlers with a three-set win.

This past Friday, the Kodiaks men’s and women’s basketball team would lose to the St. Marys Lightning.

The women would bounce back on Saturday with an overtime win against the Lightning.

The men would also pick up a win of their own, beating the Lightning 92-72.

Hi, I’m Seth Slomp, I live on a beef and dairy farm not too far from Lethbridge in Picture Butte. It’s a family farm that stretches 1,500 acres where my uncles, my dad, my brother and two hired hands all work. Growing up I was never interested in agriculture, my love was for sports, specifically volleyball and soccer. I also played basketball, badminton and threw discus in high school. Currently, I attend Lethbridge College where I am a second-year student-athlete in the Digital Communications and Media program. When I'm not in school I also play for the Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s soccer team.
