LC students Africa bound

For two Communication Arts students at Lethbridge College, helping those in Africa who are in need, is on the top of their list of things to do when they finish the winter semester.

Sarah Moss and Katie Wilson decided to join up with Global Youth Network, an organization that helps young people go to Africa to help those in need.

“I was going to go to Africa a couple of years ago and the trip got cancelled because of the civil war in Kenya”, says Moss, who has not let her desire to go disappear.

“It’s something I always wanted to do,” she adds. “It’s just an important thing to do, so we can give back to people who don’t have as much as we do.”

For Wilson, traveling has always been a passion since she’s gone to Europe as well as  New Zealand. So, when her and Moss went to a presentation by the organization, neither had any reluctance about going.

The two will be stationed in different cities within Uganda. Moss will be in Jinja, while Wilson will be in Soroti.

Moss says her location will focus more on building schools and huts, while Wilson will be working in orphanages for children who have lost their parents due to HIV/AIDS.

Moss and Wilson leave May 1. and will stay for a month, ending their stay on a safari.
