Lethbridge College fashion design program seeking runway models

Lethbridge College fashion students will be hosting a model call at the end of March and beginning of April to select models for their year-end show.
Third-year fashion student Morgan Lencucha says posters will be going up around the college and community with information for those interested in modeling for the show.

“Anyone can show up. We make them walk for us and try on a few things and then those people who pass come in and do a fitting later on,” says Lencucha.

The students are looking for young men who are a size medium and women who are a standard size 10, which is an actual size 4-6 as all the garments are made to a standard size.
They prefer models to be taller than five feet, nine inches but it’s not a requirement.
“We usually want them to have a little experience beforehand, either with photography or (model) walking,” says Lencucha.
“You have to be able to walk in heels.”
But second-year fashion student Trinda Sheridan says that although some modeling experience is preferred, the event co-ordinators will give walking lessons and feedback to any model who needs it.
The models that are selected will be switched out throughout the fashion show and be showcasing garments from different students.
The outfits they will be wearing go along with the various themes of the show.
“We’ve got a trady twist theme which is a swingy jacket and pants, a dark poetry (theme) which is a distressed punk kind of look, body performance which is like athletic wear with a pretty twist on it and then there’s children’s wear, cocktail dresses, men’s wear, bridal. There are a lot,” says Lencucha.
The students say they hope for a greater turn out as previous years have left them short-changed for models.
They will be advertising for the model call through Facebook, posters and through word-of-mouth.
The show is scheduled for Saturday, April 30.
