Lethbridge Maple Leafs honoured

  Old-school jerseys were proudly worn by Lethbridge Hurricanes in honor of the 1951 world champions, the Lethbridge Maple Leafs.

the Brandon Wheat Kings, the ‘Canes claimed victory with their new “old” jerseys. The 4-3 win by the Hurricanes included a powerful 40 shots on net. Lethbridge Maple Leafs replica jerseys worn by the ‘Canes during this match were auctioned off and sold last week.

  Nap Milroy, the last remaining Lethbridge Maple Leafs player, was present during the opening ceremonies. Tom Wood delivered the puck drop of the game to commemorate the 60-year anniversary of the Maple Leafs.
  In 1950 the Maple Leafs won the Western Canadian Championship. The following year they represented Canada in the World Amateur Hockey Championship and claimed victory. The championship was won in Paris, France.  
  Afterwards, this historic hockey team played in front of 400,00 fans and dominated Europe.
Known as the “Cinderella Club of All Time,” the Lethbridge Maple Leafs continue to skate in the hearts of residents.
