Library promotes into the Wild

This year’s book chosen by the Lethbridge College One Book Club is hopefully another sell out if last year’s success is any indication.

This year’s book is Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer which was chosen by members of the Lethbridge College One Book Club.
The campaign was launched last year to LC students by the Buchanan Library. The library is releasing one book a year to get students reading.
Last year’s book was The Alchemist, Library services Constance Sheriff says it worked out well. “The program was quite successful; we sold out of all the copies in the bookstore.”
This is the second time the campaign has been launched and she says they now have a better idea on how to promote and get the book out into the college community.
“It’s just a neat way to create community within the college,” Sheriff explains.
“It’s neat to have someone to talk to who has also read the book around the college.”
Into the Wild is a book about a young man named Christopher Johnson McCandless, who was born and raised in a very well-off family, sets off to Alaska and left most of his possessions behind while he created a new life  for himself. The book was released in 1997.
The library gave out 10 free copies of the book on Friday Oct. 1 and the book can be purchased in the LC bookstore throughout the year.
