Lightning, Buffaloes battle in Ranchland semi-finals

Ranchland Hockey League senior AA Hockey playoffs are underway and the Lethbridge Lightning are right in the middle of it.

The Lightning split the opening weekend of the best-of-five series against the Siksika Buffaloes with one win each.

Both wins came at home for the two teams. The Lightning took a 1-0 series lead with a 5-2 win on Friday in Lethbridge, but the Buffaloes came back the next night with a 5-3 win of their own.

Lightning General Manager Rob Zintel says the playoffs brought in a record crowd.

The winner of this series goes on to the league final against either Nanton or Fort Macleod. The winner of the Ranchland Hockey League gets to compete for a provincial title in April.
