Some local businesses have been recognized for their exemplary ethical practices.
The Better Business Bureau held a luncheon on Oct. 26 to honour the eight winners of the 2011 Business Ethics Awards. Four organizations received awards and four were given an honourable mention in the categories of non-profit/charity, small business, medium business, and large business.
The Interfaith Food Bank Society was the winner of the non-profit/charity category, being recognized for its organization and attention to detail, as well as showing commitment and compassion to the community. An honourable mention went to the Rehabilitation Society of Southwestern Alberta.
The award in the small business category went to Harold’s Auto Service for its honest approach to business, as well as its consistent advertising and philosophy of educating its customers. Fox Renovations and Van Arbor Homes Corp. received honourable mentions in the category.
Carefree Kitchens and Lighting Ltd. received the award for the medium business category acknowledged for being a consistent, family-run company and for making an effort to support various causes in the community.
Bethel Windows and Doors won the large business category for its emphasis on health and safety and the honesty and integrity it shows its customers and suppliers. Honourable mention in this category went to Adora Kitchens Ltd.
Sandra Croizer-McKee, Southern Alberta’s president and CEO of Better Business Bureau, presented the awards to the winners who were chosen by a panel of third-party judges.
