At the beginning of the third period, the teams traded points and seemed to be evenly matched. UNBC worked to close the gap with a three pointer six minutes into the period from #4 Jennifer Clyne, an All Canadian player.
Both teams played aggressively, MacEwan managed to keep their lead, with the advantage of sinking many foul shots, ending the period 57-42.

Defence was key in the fourth quarter and the teams again traded points, with MacEwan maintaining a lead of about 10 points throughout the first six minutes.
MacEwan increased their lead in the last part of the quarter, ending the game 73-57.
UNBC’s loss means they finished sixth overall, and MacEwan will go on to the bronze medal game at 6 p.m.
Player of the game awards went to UNBC’s #9 Sarah Robin and MacEwan’s #5 Jessilyn Fairbanks.
MacEwan coach Rob Poole says that after the emotional letdown of losing their first game of the season, he is proud of the way his team played.
“We had to step up our game offensively, we had to have some people step up their game. Jessilyn Fairbanks was a big reason why we won today. We stayed aggressive.”
