Metavrse meets Lethbridge College

North America’s leading virtual and augmented reality consulting and production company will be attending the Merging Realities event at Lethbridge College.

Metavrse, a company founded and ran by CEO’s Alan and Julie Smithson, is focussed on the business applications of VR and AR.

Alan Smithson divulged his plans for Merging Realities, saying he’s going to teach people about the differences in VR and AR, talk about the newest technology and the different techniques they’ve tried to create the best product.

“I think it’s (VR) is going to be the dominate platform,” Smithson said, “Instead of going from TV’s to computer screens to cell phones – which is all in 2D – the world is going to move to 3D computing.”

Smithson wasn’t always leading in virtual and augmented reality. When the technology was still in its beginning stages, the man was focussed on DJ entertainment and technology.

“I got invited to a technology camp and I got to try VR for the first time. I had that ‘ah-ha’ moment where I realized ‘this is really amazing’ and I started to work with VR in 2015,” he said.

Smithson said one of the reasons he thinks this technology is incredible is because with VR and AR, the whole world around you becomes a platform.

Metavrse has partaken in over 50 unique 360, VR and AR productions.

Merging Realities will happen April 26th.
