NBA fans whine about whoever wins championship

Many sports fans have no idea what they are talking about and spew out mindless claims to try to cover the fact that maybe their team just sucks.

Whenever a team wins a championship, a flood of rival fans begins to undermine the accomplishments of the winning team.

For a recent example, let’s look at the Las Angeles Lakers winning the NBA Championship.

Even before they won, basketball fans were calling the playoffs rigged and scripted.

To them, it wasn’t even a possibility that the team with arguably the best big man currently playing and the second-best player of all time could do some damage in the playoffs.

No, instead it was a rigged playoff to help bolster the legacy of Lebron James, a man who needs no help in cementing his impact on the sport of basketball.

These opinions come out any time a good team does what they are designed to do, which is, be good at what they do.

Two of the most asinine sports opinions I have ever heard have come out during this Laker victory.

First, is the idea that these whole playoffs shouldn’t count because of COVID-19.

For many sports fans online, for some reason having to take months off without proper training, being isolated in a Florida bubble, facing fully healthy teams and being away from their loved ones for months is somehow easier than past years.

It’s ridiculous that people are seriously calling for an asterisk to be put next to this year’s championship because it shouldn’t count as a real win. Even the league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo said “this is going to be the toughest championship you could ever win.”

The players seem to realize this, but apparently, it’s not good enough for many of their fans.

The next opinion, which just blows my mind, is that the whole playoffs were scripted by the league to let the Lakers win, so they could further honour the late Kobe Bryant.

People are so blinded by the fact that their team couldn’t win, that to them, it must mean that there is a whole conspiracy surrounding the death of an NBA legend.

Apparently, it’s not possible that the second-best team in the regular season could pull-off winning the championship.

The Lakers were inspired by Kobe Bryant’s legacy and desperately wanted to win the championship to honour one of the greatest Lakers of all-time.

Kobe had worked with many of the players on the team and was still connected with the organization up until his death.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that a team’s bond would be strengthened after coming through a tragic incident.

You can have all the skill in the world, but if you can’t work together you will never succeed.

This is a team that has been working hard for the last decade to make it back into the finals and had the perfect mix of skill, teamwork and determination.

Any basketball fan that can’t see this is blinded by their own need for their team to always be on top and can’t fathom the idea that another team can just be better.

For fans that have to make up stupid conspiracies or say every championship is rigged just because the team you wanted to win didn’t, you are what’s wrong with sports and I hope you realize that.
