The Lethbridge College has a new board chair as of Sept. 19.
Randy Jesperson, a Distinguished Alumnus of Lethbridge College, will be replacing Keith Dys following a long career in the oil and gas industry.
The Lethbridge College grad was previously the president of Terasen Gas. He also held positions of senior vice-president, Energy Delivery Services and senior vice president, Gas Supply.
Jesperson brings not only a background in the oil and gas industry but adds experience in management from his time with Terasen Gas. He is a past chair of the Western Energy Institute and a current member of the Canadian Gas Association.
In the 2007 issue of Wider Horizons, Jesperson talked about his years attending Lethbridge College.
“Lethbridge College was part of my formative years. It afforded me the opportunity to walk out with a diploma and options to continue my academic career. It was the personal touch, the teach-by-teaching philosophy that helped me succeed,” he said then.
Jesperson grew up on his family’s farm and makes time to help his brother harvest near Taber every August.
He attended W.R. Myers High School in Taber, where he dropped out in grade 11. He received his MBA at the age of 21.
There will be a reception held later in the fall to introduce Jesperson to the faculty and staff of the college.
