New direction for Kodiaks

Lethbridge College athletes will be seeing a change in the face that runs their department.

Mark Kosack, athletic director since 2007, has resigned from his position and will be temporarily replaced by Ian Bennett, head volleyball coach and instructor at the college.

“They are bringing in (Ian) part time to help out on the interim until they can find a new direction,” said Robyn Howg, secretary of the athletic department.

The department will be looking for someone to take on the position permanently as Bennett has other commitments to the college which may prevent him from fully assuming the director’s role.

“Mark Kosack’s resignation happened mid-season, and we couldn’t go on making a search mid-season for a new director,” said Bennett. “We don’t want anything to jeopardize the success of our students.”

The department does guarantee that there will be no effects on the current flow of the athletic programs currently operating at the college and they state that they will likely have a permanent athletic director by the beginning of summer.
