New school year, new entertainment

From music to bowling, Lethbridge is gearing up to aim at the younger crowd within the city in hopes to gaining a larger spotlight from shows and events.

It can be tough being new to the city and for currents Lethbians, it can be dull without knowing what goes on after dark. The growing city proves to new and current residents that there is plenty of entertainment.

“…Great sound and a great live show is all about making the memories,” says Think Tank Events manager Todd Lacharite.

Hosting returning band Mother Mother, Lacharite is excited about the Vancouver based indie group visiting Lethbridge on December 2. Another band coming to Lethbridge this year is Ontario indie pop band Tokyo Police Club, who will perform at Average Joes on November 9.

Think Tank Events is not the only promoter in town to turn heads with music. The Geomattic Attic is another promoting company here to make an impression. The Geomattic hosts Fred Eaglesmith, a Juno Award winning alternative-country artist who made his network television debut on The Tonight Show with David Letterman 4 years ago. Eaglesmith will also be highlighting the night on October 15 at the Barn on the college’s campus. Music concerts are known to leave a definitive impression on newcomers and these artists are just a few to look out for.

Concerts are not the only perks of being a resident of the city. The Lebowski Bash is an annual event that pays tribute to the 1998 cult comedy film. Free bowling, contests, and tournaments revolving around “The Big Lebowski” will take place on October 25 at the Holiday Bowl.

Keep an eye out for what’s in the spotlight this fall as more events and artists make their way to town.
