One down, Eight months to go

Thanksgiving weekend is coming up within the next couple of days and that means a lot for many students.

It could mean “ Hooray! I get an extra day this weekend to relax”.

It also could mean, “Turkey! And not Mac and cheese!”

For others it could mean something like “I’ve completed the first month of college, and I’m still alive! Finally, a break.”

Many first years are finding it a little overwhelming considering it’s their first time in a post-secondary institution.

The homework, the money, class lengths, labs, lectures, the list goes on.

Even some second years are finding it to be a little bit hectic. I know I am and so are some of my friends, and classmates.

It is hard to get back into the swing of things after being off for four months. By the time you’re fully back in the routine, it’s summer again. This is just one of those things you can’t escape from that comes with being in a college or university environment.

Mid terms are under way for some students, and the work-load seems unbearable and endless. I have some good news – it will end.

All in all, the first month has gone by very quickly and before we know it, it will be Christmas, then Easter, and the summer months will be soon enough. Make this the best year for your education but make sure to take time to kick back and relax.
