Our cellular obsession

I know.

It must be frustrating to not be able to use your instant messaging services, your email, and your Internet browsing.

I know.

It must be amazing to have a phone that can update itself to make multitasking easier so you’re free to update your status while checking the hockey draft.

Want to know how I know? It’s all I ever hear.

With the present Blackberry glitch now affecting users in Canada, the country is in a rage over the poor performance of their mobile devices.

With the recent announcement of the iPhone 4S and the passing of Apple’s front man Steve Jobs, iPhones are front and centre in the gadget world.

Because of their quality or lack of, it appears cellphones are the only conversation topic these days.

In the last week I have seen hundreds of news stories, Facebook statues, blogs, videos and articles praising or criticizing iPhones and Blackberrys.

I understand that we live in a day and age where technology plays a substantial role in our daily lives. But I don’t need to hear about it everywhere I look.

Don’t get me wrong. I feel for those who are experiencing technical difficulties with their cellular devices.

However, if I see one more tweet about complaining about a “brokeberry” I might just have to terminate my Twitter account. Or buy one of the two so I can join in on the debate.

However, based on my observations, looks like iPhones are currently the way to go
