Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships

For the first time in Red Bull Crashed Ice history, athletes representing eight countries from across the world will be competing in hopes of being named the first ever Red Bull Crashed Ice World Champion.

Red Bull’s Crashed ice is coming to Quebec City during their winter festival March 17 – 21, and Kailee Ryan of Lethbridge has qualified to take part in the action.

Only the top 20 women are chosen to take part in the event which is a combination of hockey, boarder cross and downhill skiing.

Racers hurtle down a 575-metre-long ice track coiling through the city’s landscape while navigating huge verticals, jumps and hairpin turns. Final rankings will be determined based on the points accumulated over the course.

Ryan says that despite the track and speed at which the athletes are travelling she feels it’s not a dangerous event to take part in.

"I’m just going to make sure I don’t miss a thing, and remember it all,” says Ryan.
