The Deathbridge Derby Dames are having their first roller derby bout, Night of the Rolling Dead, here at home on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Derby skater, Martina Emard, a.k.a Cherri Blaster, says it’s an event you won’t want to miss.
“You can expect fast-paced action and a lot of fun,” says Emard.
The girls will be facing the Central Alberta team, the Missfits of Mayhem, at Exhibition Park in the north pavilion.
According to Emard, the dames are ready to roll.
“The team we are playing is a travel team. They have been around for about a year longer than us so I would say we are pretty evenly matched,” she says, adding that
a premier home game is a great opportunity for the community to see what the sport is all about.
“This night will give a lot of the girls on the team the opportunity to develop their on-track personalities.
Advance tickets can be purchased for $10 at Steel Sass, 252 13 St. N., as well as at the doors on the night of the event.
“Kids under 10 are free and tickets can also be purchased through your favourite local derby girl.”
The event is open to all ages and will be licensed.
