Stop and reflect

Dec. 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women and Lethbridge College is going to be a part of it.

This day pays tribute to the 14 women murdered 21 years ago at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal.

Lethbridge College is setting up a memorial table with 14 candles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside the Buchanan Library.

Students and staff can pick up a white ribbon to demonstrate their support.

The Status of Women Canada website says that Dec. 6 does not only support the women whose lives ended in an act of gender-based violence, it also represents an opportunity for Canadians to reflect on the occurrence of violence against women in our society.

Communities can consider concrete actions to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls.
